Title: A Few Thoughts....

Blog Entry: Hi.
Things are ticking along just fine. I thought about this issue of Britain's 200th anniversary of abolition of the slave trade. I think it's ridiculous that they refuse to apologise for the gross inhumanity inflicted upon so many African people from their part in the slave trade. They are blatantly patronising the issue from the position of power. What they are doing is saying we can make slaves out of Africans and then when we decide to stop and live fluently with them, we are not liable for any punishment for the slavery we inflicted. Put it this way, if I was to kidnap a British person and take them to Africa, make them into a slave picking cotton and keeping them in line with the whip etc. And then after twenty years of abuse decide to stop and live with the British person 'granting them' the rights of my African culture, do you not think it would be outrageous to say that I AM NOT GOING TO APOLOGISE FOR WHAT I HAVE DONE ALTHOUGH I REGRET IT AND HAVE SORROW, AND I AM NOT LIBABLE FOR ANY PUNISHMENT. That is what the British people have done with the slavery issue.
Let's put it another way - SLAVERY IS A CRIME. For instance, it makes no difference if a man commits a crime 20 years ago, he should still be liable to pay for that crime today. In the case of slavery, the governments of the countries which allowed slavery should be liable to pay for that crime today.
It makes me sick to the stomach when they say 'It was all in the past, we're civilised now so lets just forget it'. They try to sweep it under the carpet and take no responsibility for what their ancestors have done. Their lives now are a direct result of their ancestors and the profit from what their ancestors have done. Their attitude brings no justice for the many Africans who lost their lives as slaves.
On another note, I'm not impressed with that Heather Mills doing her stuff on the American dance show. I simply don't respect someone whom I think is self centered and exploitative. I think Sir Paul Mc Cartney was a bit naive not to have taken strong measures to ensure that he couldn't be ripped off.
Here are a few jokes:
